Draft for review by a lawyer before launch. Not legal advice. Last updated October 2026.

Terms of service

These terms describe how AngelSwitch works and what each of us agrees to. Plain language first; a lawyer will tighten the wording before launch.

What AngelSwitch is

A service that stores encrypted messages you create and delivers them to people you choose, according to rules you set (check-ins, confirmers, dates). It is not a will, does not give legal, financial or medical advice, and is not a substitute for proper estate planning.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your password and recovery kit safe. We can’t recover your content without one of them.
  • Only add people you have a genuine reason to contact, and make sure their email addresses are correct.
  • Don’t store passwords, illegal content, or anything you don’t have the right to share.
  • Check in when asked. If you don’t, AngelSwitch will follow the rules you chose.

How delivery works, and its limits

We remind you, ask any confirmers you named, and give you a final chance to cancel, as you configured. We work hard to deliver reliably, but email, postal services and other people are outside our control, and we can’t guarantee a particular outcome or timing.

Plans and payment

Writing and practicing are free. A paid plan (monthly, yearly or lifetime) turns your switch on. Recipients never pay. If a subscription ends, your switch keeps running and your content is kept, but editing is paused until you renew. Refunds: [to be decided].

If AngelSwitch closes

We intend to give at least 90 days’ notice and a way for you and your recipients to download their messages. [Commitment wording, including for lifetime plans, to be confirmed with counsel.]

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Liability

[Limitation of liability and governing law to be drafted by counsel.]
